The Geochemistry Group is excited to announce the launch of the monthly panel series, “Out of Academia: Into Science”. We recognise that there is a wide array of career options open to ECRs, but in the middle of a project it can be unclear exactly how the specific skills gained can be relevant to non-academic careers. Through this series of panel discussions, we aim to showcase the range of diverse careers open to geochemistry PhD graduates and help gain insight into how the skills and experience from the PhD are valued in other sectors.
These will be virtual events held on the last Wednesday of each month, with 2-3 guest speakers per panel. As well as the panel discussion, there will also be a chance for attendees to put their questions to the panel. The panels will be recorded and uploaded on the Geochemistry Group website as a resource for the community. We hope to make this a long-running feature, so if you have suggestions for career paths you’d like to see covered please get in touch!
We’re delighted to announce the line-up for the first three panels, starting in September.
