Funding opportunities

The Geochemistry Group offers a number of opportunities for funding, primarily for Ph.D student and early career researchers (ECRs). Below we outline each opportunity, and the frequency which they are considered. Application forms are available below. Contact Marie-Laure Bagard (mlb63@cam.ac.uk) if you have any queries.

Meeting Attendance Bursaries for PhD researchers

The Geochemistry Group welcomes applications from researchers registered at UK and Irish universities or research institutions to facilitate the presentation of their geochemistry-related research at a meeting hosted online, within the UK or internationally. Funding for two types of expenses can be applied for through this bursary: (i) offsetting the cost of travel to conferences being attended in person; (ii) contributions towards the costs of attending online conferences. Full eligibility criteria are listed in the attached appendix.

From March 2023, the Geochemistry Group steering committee requires attendance at a previous GGRiP in order to be eligible for a meeting-attendance bursary. Attendance at GGRiP can be both online or in-person. The total amount that can be applied for has been increased to a maximum of £500 per person.

There are three rounds of applications per year with deadlines on 15th January, 15th May and 15th October.  Incomplete applications will not be considered. Details of any adjustments to these dates or extensions will be published on the Geochemistry Group’s website, www.geochemistry.group, and/or through the group’s social media pages.

Successful applicants are required to submit a brief report within three months of attendance at the meeting for publication on the Group’s website.
